It's a peculiarity of this deep-purple dyed merino that makes it photograph as blue for some reason, with or without flash. The actual color is a lush deep velvety purple.
I come up with most of the elements of my batts myself, but one of the few that I don't is the shredded sari silk (although in 2009 I plan to experiment with shredding my own, as well as other recycling/shredding of pre-existing textiles).
I get my shredded sari silk from Paradise Fibers in Washington, and have always been well pleased with everything I've ever gotten from them!
